Smoke & Fire Damage Cleaning

Industrial Cleaning Contractors carries out a wide range of smoke and fire damage cleaning projects including redecoration and restoration services. When a disaster such as smoke and fire damage occurs it can leave devastating effects and render a business un-operational. Its critically important to be able to respond quickly to such events, most business would be gravely affected if simply left to insurance companies and loss adjusters alone. Over the last 20 years ICC has carried out extensive smoke and fire damage cleaning programs to many businesses and premises enabling them to start or continue trading almost immediately. We have been involved with the cleaning of smoke and fire damaged factories, warehouses, generators, plant rooms, garages, workshops, retail outlets, kitchens, production areas, pubs, restaurants, homes and offices.

Our services include the disposal of fire damaged stock, goods or contents, recovery and restoration of contents, equipment, plant and surfaces where at all possible. Extensive cleaning, decontamination and deodorising of equipment, contents and furnishings. Refurbishment, redecorations, replacement and making good after the fire and smoke damage.

At ICC we understand the complex issues involved during the process of a fire, the effects that heat and smoke can have upon a surface, the chemical processes involved when attempting to clean or restore a contaminated or damaged surface. And ultimately the best way to recover and restore a surface or environment to its pre-fire condition.

An example of our services was a printing manufacturer that had a machine fire. The print machine was written off but the working environment, some 2,200 m2, was heavily smoke soiled. With print deadline commitments looming it was imperative they did not lose their main customer, a 1.2 million pound order for a national high street retailer. ICC were appointed as the specialist cleaning contractor. We initially cleared the entire area of print stationary contaminated by smoke, some 6 skip loads. We then carried out specialist surface cleaning of print production machinery and the directly surrounding areas, followed by the installation of a protective tent arrangement above machinery to stop further contamination. We then undertook an exhaustive internal structural cleaning program above production areas whilst print production continued. ICC successfully completed the works over a four week period causing minimal disruption and allowing our client to fulfil his order.

Fire and smoke damaged environments and particularly operational ones are by nature inherently dangerous as in many cases toxins are present, familiarity with the workings of these environments is very important. For more than 22 years our management, site supervision and operatives have worked within these types of environment. We have seen considerable changes in the way works must now be conducted, primarily in the interests of increased safety awareness. We take our responsibilities very seriously, our management and staff are trained to the following accreditation.

  • Management hold ‘CITB Management Site Safety Scheme Accreditation’
  • Site supervision hold ‘CITB Supervisor Site Safety Scheme Accreditation’
  • Cleaning operatives hold ‘CSCS’ cards
  • CITB accredited IPAF platform operator’s certificates.
  • PASMA certification for tower access construction.
  • Experienced site management and supervision.
  • Operatives are full time and directly employed by Industrial Cleaning Contractors.
