Specific examples of innovative solutions delivered to our clients

The successful Grit Blast Cleaning of over 8,000 square metres of painted ceilings in the new Lloyds Bank HQ in Bristol without the creation of dust and whilst the secondary installation of equipment including computers was carried out. All within a 7-week deadline from concept to completion. Almost 2,500 cfm of compressed air was continuously used in what is still the largest single Vacuum Blast project completed in the UK.

At Newhaven docks a novel emergency involved the cleaning of over 9,000 pairs of assorted footwear! Their container and all outer packaging were found to be contaminated with a highly toxic concentrate used in the manufacture of weed killer, banned in Europe but still used in the Third World. The container had been opened for inspection by Customs officials, further contaminating the customs hall and bringing the entire docks to a complete standstill.

ICC were on site within hours, having established full details of toxicology, protection and disposal, including the drafting of a full working specification and method statement. After the satisfactory completion of independent swab testing the docks were reopened within 36 hours.

Within the Portsmouth Dock Yard Industrial Cleaning Contractors have been responsible for the specialist task of Tank Cleaning to gas-free standards, using intrinsically safe Zone 1 & 2 equipment, enabling hot work to be carried out to both submarines, various war ships and Ancillary craft.

Gas-free cleaning also being a requirement within the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment after steam coil failure within 50,000 gallon heavy oil storage containers, all such works must be considered as hazardous, with strict compliance of safety procedures and methods being of paramount importance.

Getting it right first time

Our experience and knowledge in the varying types of surfaces and materials used during construction is of great benefit. For example the selection of the right floor for the purposes can be very confusing, particularly when there are so many products apparently able to do the same thing. More often than not, price will determine the choice and choice on this basis can often lead to the selection of the wrong product with costly consequences.

Many flooring products tend to overlap considerably in their functions thereby providing scope for selection not only on merit but also on cost.

For instance, a concrete sealer dustguard, performs very satisfactorily in areas as diverse as Light Electronics and Heavy Engineering, the only difference being intervals between maintenance. The following chart lists the anticipated major maintenance free life of the various products in typical environments.
